| What is a Certified immigration procedures specialist? |
|
A certified immigration procedures specialist is designated by the Japanese Minister of Justice
as a person acknowledged as having a thorough knowledge of immigration law and administration
among the Gyoseishoshi lawyers. The immigration specialist is allowed to conduct business at the Immigration Office, to appear in front of the Immigration Bureau, renew the period of stay, change of status of residence, apply for the re-entry permit and the certificate of eligibility on behalf of the applicants. The immigration specialist functions almost the same way as an immigration lawyer in the US. However, if an applicant wants to sue the Japanese government, he or she should ask a BENGOSHI (attorney). |
